LCD Vs. CRT

LCD flat screen and panel monitors have taken the place of the old CRTs from the 1980s and 90s. The latest generation of these displays provides better color, contrast and a less reflective viewing surface. A flat panel will be only a few inches thick and can be mounted on a wall. A flat screen will have the same type of display but is thicker and cannot be mounted.

These types of monitors are very popular because they are thinner and take up less space than their predecessors. Being no thicker than a hardcover book in some cases makes them much easier to fit on a desk at work or in your home. Now you can have a 22-inch screen that takes up less space than an old 17-inch display.

LCD monitors come in widescreen for a more cinematic feel. Some are also adjustable and can sit either horizontally for landscape or vertically for portrait style viewing. They can also be stylized further by being customized with different color bezels, or borders, to match your furniture.

These newer flat screen and flat panel displays also consume less power and generate less heat than CRTs, making them big step forward in just about every facet.
