Have you ever wondered how small a laptop could get?

Micro-PCs

When it comes to notebook computers the demand for smaller models is unyielding. The smallest of the bunch for a while was a laptop with an 11 or 12-inch screen. Even those were too big for some people.

Now you can find notebooks with 4 and 7-inch screens. These are handheld notebooks, commonly referred to as micro-computers, similar in size to a PlayStation Portable or Nintendo DS. To many people's surprise, they are fully functional laptops running the Windows Vista Home Premium.

The different models tout most of the same features, either a sliding touch screen and built-in keyboard with keys like a cell phone, or a full tablet PC. They usually run on single core Intel processors and have either standard hard drives under 100GB or solid state drives between 32 and 64GB.

Right now the two leading companies developing these micro-computers are Samsung and Sony. The Sony models also sport biometric fingerprint scanners and built-in camera and microphone, while Samsung added A/V Mode. Take a look at them and judge for yourself at TigerDirect.com.
