What are the viewing angles for LCD?

LCD Viewing Angles

A common misconception about LCD flat panel monitors is that they have poor viewing angles. What this means is that the picture only looks good if your are directly in front of the screen and that it gets worse as you move to the sides. Earlier generations of LCDs did have some problems with viewing angles, but that is an issue that was corrected a few years ago.

Most LCD screens have viewing angles no less than 150 degrees. Samsung and Sony LCD displays have a viewing angle of 178 degrees. This means that you can basically stand side-by-side with one of their LCD flat panels and still see a perfect image. There is no longer any “wash effect” in the color representation of these displays.

New technologies are always scrutinized and people often are misinformed. Take a look for yourself at the current generation of LCD screens available on TigerDirect.com and you will see the benefits they have over the old CRT monitors.
